In a commanding performance on the opening day of their four-day unofficial Test against Australia A, the Indian Women's A team capitalized on a stellar display by their spinners. Captain Minnu Mani led from the front with a five-wicket haul, taking 5 for 58, while leg-spinner Priya Mishra supported with 4 for 58, dismantling the Australian batting line-up. Thanks to these efforts, Australia A was bowled out for 212 runs, with all ten wickets falling to spinners.
Australia A's innings began with opener Georgia Voll delivering a solid performance, scoring 71 runs off 95 balls with 12 fours. However, the introduction of left-arm spinner Mannat Kashyap proved pivotal as she dismissed Voll, leading to a collapse. The Australian side struggled thereafter, losing four wickets for just 94 runs and barely managing to cross the 200-run mark.
Middle-order batsmen Maitlen Brown and Grace Parsons contributed significantly, with Brown scoring 30 and Parsons adding 35. Their efforts ensured that Australia A reached a total of 212.
In response, India A ended the day at 100 for two, trailing by 112 runs. The visitors lost Priya Punia for just 7 runs and Shubha Satish cheaply, leaving the team at 47 for two.
With the team in a challenging position, Shweta Sehrawat and Tejal Hasabnis stepped up, forming a crucial partnership of 53 runs.
